Here are a few possible solutions that will assist with speeding up your computer:
Free Up Disk Space
Low disk space means the less free space for the computer's operating system to work.
Recycle Bin: Ensure that you empty your recycle bin, just because you delete items from your folders, doesn't mean the files disappear, they all go to the 'Recycle Bin' which you can locate on your desktop.
Downloads Folder: Ensure that you delete any unnecessary files from your 'Downloads' folder, all files that you download from Chrome is always stored in this folder.
Restart Your PC
Restarting your computer may improve its performance. When a computer is regularly not being shut down at the end of the day and running for too long, the allocated memory accumulates which eventually slows it down.
Note that closing the lid of your laptop does not shutdown the computer, it simply puts it to sleep, and any programs that were running at that time still remain open.
-
Go to the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen or press the windows key.
-
At the bottom left in the start menu, press the power button and select Restart.
-
The computer will shutdown properly and turn itself back on.
Running Too Many Programs at the Same Time
Another potential cause for a slow computer is if you simply have too many things open. It is best practice to close tabs in your browser that you are no longer using or closing any applications that are not currently necessary. Closing unnecessary processes can potentially allow the computer to work more efficiently.
